Foals have teamed up with London venue The Royal Albert Hall to help educate youngsters hoping to make a career for themselves in the UK music industry.
The band, who perform two shows at the venue on 28 March 2013, are offering a music workshop with music students from the London boroughs of Islington and Haringey, in which 14-16 year olds will be able to quiz the 'Inhaler' band on their experiences in the industry. The selected participants will be music students with an interest in rock and indie music.
This workshop will involve a Q&A with the band, as well as a live jam session with Foals in which a track from the band's new album, Holy Fire, will be recreated by participants.
Speaking of the venture, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis says: "The Royal Albert Hall suggested we get involved in their education programme to supplement our gigs there and we thought it sounded like a grand idea.
"I would have loved a similar opportunity when I was younger - I had a pretty weird taste in music but always looked to my favourite bands for inspiration. It will be a fun day and hopefully the kids will learn something of use"
Foals will coach youngsters and host a press conference at the Royal Albert Hall
The band will also be hosting an education press conference, in which 40 11-16 year olds will quiz the band on music and music journalism.
Speaking of the workshops, Lucy Noble of The Royal Albert Hall says: "The workshop builds on our education programme from last year which reached over 100,000 people. It’s great to be able to work with such popular acts to host exclusive sessions with local children as part of the Hall’s charitable mission to offer education and champion youth music – this year we’re also excited to be working with Nicola Benedetti and MOBO Award winner Soweto Kinch.
"We’re delighted to be able to give local students a special opportunity to both learn from the hottest music acts on the scene and to perform in one of the world’s most famous venues."
