A man has died in Australia while waiting to audition for the country's X Factor show.
The 33-year-old is reported to have collapsed while attending auditions for Australia's version of the talent show, which were taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Eyewitness reports state that the man fell to the ground and was then taken to a hospital nearby.
The unnamed man died shortly after his arrival at the hospital. It is believed that he died from a heart attack.
In a statement from production company FreemantleMedia, Steven Murphy, a spokesperson for the company said: "He collapsed late [Friday] and was treated by medics on site before being transferred by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital."
The incident took place during preliminary audition, at which judges Mel B, Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaite and Guy Sebastian did not attend, as entrants were performing for producers only.
None of the Australian X Factor judges were attending the audition in question
Australian X Factor judge Mel B had been rumoured to be making a move to the UK version of the show, after proving a hit with audiences during a guest slot in 2012.
"She’s ready to come back. All her obligations in Australia, where she’s been living for two years, come to completion at the end of January," says a source to The Mirror.
"Phoenix [her daughter] really wants to be in the UK and Mel’s getting signs that things are going to work out with The X Factor.
