The Who have offered Olympic cycling champion Bradley Wiggins free tickets to their upcoming 2013 live shows, at which they will perform their Quadrophenia album in full.

The Olympic cyclist has said before that he listens to The Who while cycling, although he hasn't ever met the band.

In an article for Cycle Sport Online, Wiggins said, "Everyone thinks Paul Weller is a real inspiration for me, but he's not so much of one as John Entwistle, the bass player with The Who.

"Entwhistle never got the recognition he deserved. He wasn't a bass player, he was a bass guitarist. He took it to another level."

Now The Who have written to Wiggins and invited him backstage to meet them.

Frontman Roger Daltrey says to The Sun, "He is invited to any of our shows. I've written and told him that.

"I'm sure we will meet him - he has a free pass to any show he likes. What an athlete and what a gentleman."

This isn't the first time that Wiggins has had the opportunity to meet his musical heroes. He previously met Paul Weller, known as the Modfather, in order to record a radio show together and celebrate his Olympic gold win.

He was also given a GQ award by his 'hero' Liam Gallagher, the former Oasis guitarist.
