Biffy Clyro look set to grab their first ever No.1 album in the UK on Sunday as early indications show the rock trio are well on course for top spot.

The Scottish band's sixth studio album, Opposites, has only been available for three days, but has already sold more copies than the combined efforts of the albums directly behind it, which includes Rihanna's Unapologetic and Justin Bieber's Believe Acoustic.

According to the Official Chart Company, the album sold 43,577 copies by the end of play on Tuesday which is already a higher tally than Biffy's previous record, Only Revolutions could achieve in its first week.

If sales continue, Opposites will become the band's first chart-topping UK album, even though they have come close before with both No.2 and No.3 albums.

Another album chart shock could see Fleetwood Mac return to the top ten with Rumours, 35 years after it was originally released.

Biffy will have to fight off the critically acclaimed Les Miserables soundtrack which has already spent two weeks are the UK album chart summit.
