Elton John is among the first names confirmed for this year's Bestival, which will mark the 'Rocket Man' star's first ever festival appearance, alongside some of the biggest, and coolest names in music.

The festival will celebrate its tenth birthday with a nautical theme, as Rob Da Bank invites party goers to board the HMS Bestival.

Snoop Dogg, MIA, Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips, The Roots, Bombay Bicycle Club and Jessie Ware are also on the line up. Swedish duo The Knife also appear on the bill - their second confirmed live UK date of 2013.

Bestival has a lot to live up to in 2013, having been named Best Major Festival of 2012 in the UK festival awards last year.

Bestival will take place on 5 - 8 September 2013. The initial line-up, as announced today (30 January, 2013) is below.

Gigwise predicted Elton John would headline Bestival in 2013, after he announced a string of UK dates around the time of the event this year. Rob Da Bank had also teased fans, saying an 'icon' was confirmed to play the event.

Rob Da Bank described his 'exclusive' act as 'an icon'. He added, "The Sunday headliner will be the first time that this artist has played a festival in the UK."
