Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has revealed that a meeting between her and Prince resulted in the pair hating each other after a violent clash.
The star, who had a No.1 hit with a cover of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' in 1990 refused to give details of the meeting, but said that the pair took a dislike to each other quickly after meeting.
"I loved his music, but I had absolutely no idea or expectation that that single would be such a big hit, not at all. Did I ever meet Prince? I did and... we didn't like each other. At all. Ha ha! I'm not going to go into it, but we detest each other..." she says in a new interview with Uncut magazine.
"It got violent too, which is why I can't go into it, but it is a very funny story. I'll tell it when I'm an old lady and I write my book."
O'Connor's Prince cover made the Irish singer a star and scored a No.1 hit
O'Connor doesn't struggle to make friends however, revealing that she hit it off so well with Noel Gallagher that the former Oasis frontman once asked to marry her. Admittedly while he was 'off his face'.
"Noel once asked me to marry him, just before he married Meg Matthews," she said in another interview, with The Sun newspaper. "He won't remember as he was off his face at a festival in Amsterdam."
