A disgruntled HMV employee has kept followers of the store's official Twitter feed entertained today, live tweeting from the store's official account during a live firing of staff.
The tweet feed, which has been dormant since announcing the store's Blue Cross Sale on 14 January, burst into life this afternoon (31 January, 2013) using the hashtag #hmvXFactorFiring. The tweets revealed that 60 members of staff were being fired en masse, in what the Twitter feed described as a 'mass execution'.
"We're tweeting live from HR where we're all being fired! Exciting!!" said the first tweet. "There are over 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand."
The Twitter account then apologised for staying silent for so long, adding: "Sorry we've been quiet for so long. Under contract, we've been unable to say a word, or -more importantly - tell the truth."
The tweets were quickly deleted. See what was posted below.

It has previously been reported that debt restructuring firm Hilco were set to step in and save over half of the HMV stores across the country.
Hilco were apparently also in talks with Jessops to discuss the potential of Jessops opening camera concessions in HMV stores.
Hilco is thought to have paid £40m for £120m of HMV's debt in late January, although theirs was not the highest bid made.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, the leaders of HMV's eight bank syndicate had receieved higher offers but turned them down as they were from vulture firms.
