'Superstar' singer Jamelia is set to meet an untimely death in her BBC acting debut, starring in Death In Paradise as a singer murdered in the Caribbean.

The UK star, who has not released an album since 2006, stars in the drama as a singer in her first ever TV role. She plays a character called Aimee, friends with the DS Camille Bordey in the show, who is performing on a party boat. Jamelia is seen to collapse during her performance, launching a murder investigation among crew and tourists on the boat.

The show airs on the BBC tonight (5 February, 2013) and Jamelia is said to be 'so excited' about her BBC debut.

Jamelia shot to fame in 1999 with her hit single 'Money' and found further chart success with tracks such as 'Superstar', 'Thank You', 'See It In A Boys Eyes' and 'Beware Of The Dog'.

She was scheduled to release a new album, titled Rebel, in 2012, but the release date has now been pushed to 2013 - with a date TBA.
