Tickets for Fleetwood Mac's eagerly awaited return to the UK go on sale tomorrow after pre-sale tickets were snapped up in mere minutes.

The legendary folk-rock group will play a short tour of arenas in the UK in September and October, visiting Dublin, London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

It had initially been hoped that the band's stint in the UK would coincide with Glastonbury Festival, and the band became a popular prediction for a headline slot. Ultimately, North American tour dates revealed since have scuppered those hopes.

Earlier this week some fans reacted with outrage when the cost of the tour's tickets was revealed.

Ticket prices for the shows range from £50 to £140, which is less than tickets for other recent big tours like The Rolling Stones, but still a sizeable amount.

Many fans took to Twitter to discuss whether or not the tickets were worth it at that price. One fan tweeted: "Sorry Fleetwood Mac but your tickets cost more than my rent. *cries*"

Another asked: "Would I be utterly crazy to pay £140 for a Fleetwood Mac ticket?"

The band also recently revealed that there would be new material from them at some point in the future.

Pre-sale tickets sold out within minutes on Wednesday (February 6)

But it's unclear whether the fans are interested in any new material, with many simply wanting to hear classic albums played in full and Mick Fleetwood admitting he hopes there's a demand for it.

Fleetwood has also hinted that the band maybe in the UK for longer than their five-date tour, saying: "We're doing a big world tour that starts in April.

"We're coming here (the UK) in September, October and maybe a bit longer. We're doing a lot of work here so we are coming."

The UK leg of the tour starts in Dublin on September 20 and wraps up in Glasgow on October 3. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9am. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
