James Blake, Chvrches: best new tracks of the week

There's certainly been a lot happening in music this week - and there shouldn't be any doubt that we've been enjoying every minute of it.

It's not like there's ever a shortage of new music - but it wouldn't be completely out of the question to say that some weeks, the quality of the music does seem to be lacking. Don't fret, though, because today certainly isn't one of those weeks and we've got ten of the best tracks right here to prove it.

The unexpected - and of course welcomed with open arms - comeback of Fall Out Boy is, of course, among them - but we've got quite a lot more to offer than just that. From Prince himself to lesser known artists to look out for, they're all right here, so turn up the volume on your headphones and take a listen to what we've got to offer.

James Blake - Retrograde
Already named Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World, 'Retrograde' sees Blake combining soaring electronic sounds with something a bit more soul. Blake is moving forward from his previous work and there's an added edge of maturity, while he still manages to retain the post-dubstep elements that he's known for.

Chvrches 'Recover'
From electronic-soul to something a bit more pop, Chvrches unveiled their latest offering with 'Recover'. Taken from the band's upcoming debut EP of the same name, Chvrches stay electro based but have an added brightness on 'Recover', with the sparkling synths giving an more upbeat tone to the track.

The 1975 'Head.Cars.Bending'
Manchester quartet The 1975 premiered latest track 'Head.Cars.Bending' this week, which sees the guitar band take a slightly more experimental road. With stuttering melodies and straight-up R&B vocals, The 1975 prove themselves to be distinctly more than a one-trick pony, and further ramp up the excitement for their debut album release in May.

Willy Moon 'My Girl'
23 year old Willy Moon never fails to leave us jealous with his effortlessly cool tracks, and 'My Girl' is no exception. The song has a retro edge taking us back to the swingin' 60s, while managing to avoid falling into the trap of feeling dated. Catchy and fun, this song has us hitting the replay button over and over again. Just one more listen...

Prince 'Breakfast Can Wait'
Prince has been driving us crazy with his slow and steady release of one so-called 'leaked' track after another, and 'Breakfast Can Wait' is the latest to be revealed. Let's be honest, we're never going to get sick of hearing Prince sing about sex - the man does it like no other, and the funky backing track only adds to the enjoyment.

Tribes 'How The Other Half Live'
Another of Zane Lowe's Hottest Records, 'How The Other Half Live' is Tribes not just telling you that they're back, but making sure that you know it. Drawing on all those classic rock 'n' roll features, there's a brilliant bluesy feel to the song and we can't wait to hear it at festivals this summer.

Fall Out Boy 'My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)'
There's the kind of electricity in 'My Songs Know...' which can only be attributed to the sound of a band who know exactly what this is going to mean to their fans and are loving every second of it. Patrick Stump's voice is just as magnificent as ever and the pulsing beat undercutting the song gives it a tribal energy. "Burn everything you love and then burn the ashes," Stump sings, and it sounds like a call to arms. We're ready.

Of Monsters and Men 'King Lionheart' (Until The Ribbon Breaks Remix)
Just when we thought we'd heard it all, Until The Ribbon Breaks take great delight in proving us wrong. Their remix of Of Monsters and Men's foot-stomping 'King & Lionheart' takes it down to just the bare minimum - and gives us the maximum impact.

Jagwar Ma - The Throw
One of our new favourite bands, 'The Throw' is a trippy technicolour callback to summers past. Despite originating from Sydney, Australia (so that's where the sunshine feel comes from, then) there's an unavoidable undertone of 'Madchester' revivalism. One of the more interesting combinations we've heard in a while.

Kavinsky - Protovision (Blood Orange remix)
Hey, remember how cool the soundtrack for Drive was? Well, that was all down to French electro producer Kavinsky, and the remix of his latest single 'ProtoVision' by Blood Orange takes the hip sound to new depths. The rework gives a sense of music soothing the savage beast, making a more chilled version of the track - but keeping that hidden bite.
