Beyonce has revealed that her marriage with super star rapper, Jay-Z, is so successful because they became good friends before rushing into a relationship.
The pair are arguably the 'power couple' of the music world and after going through a difficult miscarriage before having 13-month-old daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce feels she receives great strength from her hubby.
She told Oprah Winfrey: "I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man. It just gives me such a foundation. [He's helped me] on so many levels."
"[The miscarriage] was the saddest thing I've ever been through. My life is a journey ... I had to go through my miscarriage, I believe I had to go through owning my company and managing myself.”
Beyonce believes her 'friendship' with Jay-Z is so important to their relationship
The 31-year-old singer recently cemented her status as the biggest female solo-artist in the world with an electric performance at this year’s Super Bowl, where Jay-Z watched from the wings, refusing to take part in ‘Crazy In Love’ as he wanted Beyonce to have her special moment.
Beyonce feels the year in which she was getting to know Jay-Z as a friend was key to them having a perfect relationship.
She added: "We were friends first for a year and a half before we went on any dates. We were on the phone for a year and a half, and that foundation is so important for a relationship. Just to have someone who you just like is so important, and someone [who] is honest."
Beyonce was recently rumoured to be performing an intimate London gig with Justin Timberlake at The Garage in Islington, but it later appeared that the event posted on concert tracking website, Songkick, was a mistake.
