Simon Cowell has bought a new racehorse with presenting duo Ant and Dec, who claim the former X Factor judge wanted to name their new venture after himself.

However, the pair managed to persuade Cowell to settle for naming the horse, It’s A Yes From Me, in honour of his time spent on judging panels.

Speaking on The Jonathon Ross Show, Dec said: “We had to name it because it wasn't named for racing, so we had a chat with Simon.

''His first suggestion was, 'I think we should call him Simon'.''

At 53, Cowell has recently revealed that he has started to think about his funeral and has even selected the tracks he wants to be played.

A contestant at the Birmingham auditions for Britain's Got Talent sang Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ and Cowell decided it would be the perfect song for his funeral.

He told fellow Britain’s Got Talent, judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams, "I've decided I'd like it to be played at my funeral. It would be appropriate."
