Bruce Springsteen has made a 'special request' to play at the Leeds Arena a month before the venue officially opens.
Leeds City Council have revealed that 'The Boss' wants to try out the 13,500 seat arena as part of his Wrecking Ball world tour.
Venue director, Tony Watson said: "The team is ecstatic that an artist of this sheer calibre will be providing all of us with what is effectively a big dress rehearsal for the arena for its opening season."
He added, "Springsteen has always expressed a love of performing in the UK and, from what I understand, any opportunity to put Leeds Arena through its paces was too much to resist."
The concert will be Springsteen's first indoor event for six years and will take place on Wednesday, 24 July 2013 at the new £60 million venue in the heart of Leeds' city centre.
Springsteen will be joined by his E Street band, the council have confirmed.
Elton John is set to officially open Leeds Arena on 4 September, followed by acts such as comedian Micky Flanagan and Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs.

Leeds City Council leader, Keith Wakefield said the American rocker's request was "unexpected but very welcome."
