The Kaiser Chiefs are apparently 'really f**ked off' after finding out that their show at the new Leeds Arena will not be the inaugural show at the venue.

Both Elton John and Bruce Springsteen will now play shows at the arena before the Kaiser Chiefs.

The Kaiser Chiefs had believed that they would be opening the new Yorkshire venue with their show in September, but Bruce Springsteen has now been booked to play Leeds Arena on July 24.

Taking to his Twitter account, frontman Ricky Wilson posted: "Really f**cked (sic) off with @leeds_arena. They asked us to open the thing and then put Elton on a week before and now Bruce."

The message has now been deleted from his account.

The Kaiser Chiefs' drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson announced he was leaving the band last December to focus on his record label Chewing Gum.

A statement from the band read: "We can confirm that Nick has decided not to be in the band any more and that our show at Reading Festival in August was his last as a member of Kaiser Chiefs."

Springsteen's show at the Leeds Arena will be part of his 2013 Wrecking Ball tour, a series of shows across the UK and Ireland which will see the singer play Wembley Stadium as well as shows in Glasgow, Cork, Coventry, Limmerick and Belfast.

Tickets for Springsteen's tour go on sale this Friday (February 22) at 9am and are priced at £65.
