Robbie Williams is apparently at the top of X Factor bosses' wish-list when it comes to rebooting their judging panel - along with his Take That pal Gary Barlow.

We already know that the show's selection of judges won't look the same for the next series, with crisis talks being held to work out how to counter the show's falling ratings.

And the Daily Star reports that bosses hope that if Robbie joins Take That bandmate Gary Barlow on the panel sparks may fly and draw viewers back to the talent show.

The newspaper reports that sources say Robbie's team are saying he's too busy to join the show, but that X Factor organisers worked around Barlow's busy schedule when he first came on board with the show.

Another source told The Sun, "This is the dream team. We have been looking at the show and thinking the unthinkable.

"Robbie is exactly the right person for the show - but we don't want to lose Gary to get him. We want them both. Robbie's people are saying he is too busy to do the show.

"But we worked around Gary when he first joined the panel and he was touring with Take That and it was fine. We know Robbie loves the show and he and Gary have a great friendship and rivalry - there will be fireworks for sure."

Louis Walsh is also said to be close to signing a £750,000 deal to return, meaning there could be three men on the panel for the 2013 series.

The final judging slot is likely to go to Nicole Scherzinger, but Sharon Osbourne's name is also thought to have been talked about.

Tulisa is thought to be the judge likely to be given the boot.

Robbie already helped his pal out on the show back in 2011

Rita Ora, Mel B and Bon Jovi have all recently spoken about how they're too busy or not interested in the possiblity of joining an X Factor judging panel.

Robbie and Gary were once sworn enemies, but have since become close friends, with Robbie joining his former bandmates to tour with Take That last year.

When Robbie's people say he's too busy, they're not lying. The singer is heading out on a sizeable European tour this summer, accompanied by pal Olly Murs, and says he hopes it will top his legendary Knebworth shows.

If he was to join the X Factor panel it undoubtedly would bring viewers back to the show, at least initially, with TV fans eager to see sparks fly between the two men.
