21 February, 2013: Girls Aloud are yet to officially confirm whether their current 10 tour will be their final stand as one of the biggest British girl groups of all time, but if they do, then their 2013 shows will see the five-piece go out with one hell of a bang.

In the past decade, since being crowned victors of Pop Stars: The Rivals, they quickly trounced boyband One True Voice in the charts, before ascending to Top Ten regulars, selling 4.3million singles and releasing five albums - all of which have gone platinum.

Then of course, there is the phenomenon that is Cheryl Cole. Springboarding from her Girls Aloud success to a seat on the X Factor judging panel, the TV talent show saw the star establish herself as one of the biggest solo female acts in UK pop.

And now she's back to the day job on tour with bandmates Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding.

Kicking off their 'farewell' tour in Newcastle last night, the girl group proved why they have achieved such success in their ten years together, with dazzling routines and a stage spectacular, which saw the pop veterans soar above the audience on a huge 'Girls Aloud' logo.
