Major Lazer have announced that the release of their second album has been delayed, and no rescheduled release date has been announced.

Major Lazer’s second album, Free The Universe, was originally due out on February 26th and features collaborations with artists as varied as Danielle Haim, Shaggy and Santigold.

In an online statement from the Diplo-led project they wrote: “ We never want to disappoint our supporters but circumstances out of our control have made us unable to keep the intended date.

“For anyone disappointed, we are truly apologetic and we promise that this hiccup has only made what we have planned for the album stronger. We tried extremely hard to keep the date bit it was ultimately decided that rushing the album would have been unfair to you and everyone who worked so hard on it.”

There's no word so far on when the album will now be released

But fans need not be too disappointed as their next single, ‘Watch Out For This (Bumaye)’ is available as an instant download for anyone who pre-orders the album.

Major Lazer also plan to put out three volumes of music before the album is released. The first, Lazer Strikes Back Vol.1, is available to download now.
