Arcade Fire bandmember Regine Chassagne is thought to be expecting her first child with husband and and fellow bandmember, Win Butler.

The vocalist and multi-instrumentalist displayed a baby bump when the band performed at a charity concert in Montreal on Saturday (23 February).

The rumours were started by the Montreal Gazette, which reviewed the concert and spoke about Butler and "his very pregnant wife Chassagne."

Chassagne, who married Butler in 2003, has not yet commented on the rumours - but if they are true, then the band's touring violinist Marika Shaw won't be the only expectant mother in the group.

The band are currently working on the follow-up to 2010's The Suburbs, and have been confirmed as working with LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.

In an interview with Music Week, the band's manager Scott Rodger said, "They're in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator.

"They write too many songs - that's a good problem to have. There's around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums'-worth for sure."

The new record is expected to arrive late sometime this year, and fans have already heard some possible new material when Arcade Fire played a secret show under the name Les Identikits.

The new songs were "generally described as fun, dance-y and groovy," with a fansite writing on Twitter, "New Songs: Heavy use of percussion/rhythm section/Only 1 slow song/1 punk rock-ish song/A 7-8 minute song opened the show."
