Chris Brown has spoken openly of his regret over the attack in 2009 which left girlfriend Rihanna bloodied and beaten.
The US R&B singer, who has recently reunited with his pop A-list girlfriend has revealed that the violent assault is one of the deepest regrets of his life, despite having previously used the attack as ammunition during an online row.
"Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals," Brown tells The Mirror, before claiming he worked hard to earn Rihanna's forgiveness. "That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake. But she loves me - what can I say? I'm forgiven... but, yes, I worked hard for it."
"I've learned a lot since that night and I've grown up. I was very young and I took a lot of stuff, fame, for granted," he adds. "I didn't understand it. The support from those who do know me and the fans, who are incredible, got me through."

Brown also claims he is not bothered about ongoing criticism over his behaviour, saying: "People attack me and criticise me, it happens all the time.
"But they don't know me, and they don't know us. It doesn't bother me any more.
"Other people can judge us but they don't know anything."
During a Twitter row with US comedian Jenny Johnson in 2012, Brown used his rekindled relationship with Rihanna as ammunition during the online spat, responding to Johnson's comments about the attack, saying: "Just ask Rihanna if she mad??????"
