More about: The Vaccines
While many indie artists are keen to knock One Direction, The Vaccines frontman Justin Young has spoken of support for the boyband after writing tracks for the X Factor runners up.
Young, who this week attended the NME Awards where One Direction were named Worst Band and Harry Styles Villain Of The Year, has recently written new tracks with the boyband, and spoken of his enjoyment at sharing a studio with the five.
"It was a really interesting creative process, writing with pretty much the biggest pop band on the planet," he told BBC Newsbeat. "It was a very different world and very different process - that was one of the reasons I wanted to do it. I really enjoyed it."
"I felt like I took so much from doing it. I've always said I love pop music and how much I want to write pop music," he added, before revealing that One Direction work on their own music.
"It's the first time I've ever done anything like that. They do indeed contribute."
Electric guitars, The Vaccines collaborations - what next for One Direction?
Jake Bugg has recently shared his views on One Direction, but his are entirely at odds with Justin Young's opinion.
Speaking to ITV news at the annual bash, Bugg told the broadcaster, "I don't know how they can really be considered a band, to be honest. I'm not too sure. I think the more I play on it, it'll wind them up."
"They're there to look good," he added. "Music wise? I assume they don't have a clue. "We'll just see. They might do. Probably the ugliest one is the best singer. He might know a couple of chords."
