Not that it needed it, but South By South West has unexpectedly added still more big names to its already stella lineup.

The Texan festival opens next week, with the music portion of the event beginning on March 12, but the organisers clearly thought some last minute big name additions were in order.

Dave Grohl's Sound City Players, Justin Timberlake and Kendrick Lamar are among the new names to join the incredible lineup of artists already announced.

Sound City Players will bring with them special guests including Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Corey Taylor and RATM's Brad Wilk when they appear at Stubbs BBQ on March 14, ahead of Grohl's keynote speech.

According to KVUE.com Timberlake will be playing a private party at SXSW, while the official lineup now features new additions like Kendrick Lamar, Iron & Wine, Pusha T, Youth Lagoon FIDLAR and Parquet Courts.

As welcome as they are, the SXSW lineup didn't need the new additions to make it one of the most inticing lineups of 2013.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, CHVRCHES, Alt-J, Haim, Icona Pop and Everything Everything and a host of other excitng new names in music had already been confirmed for the festival.

South By South West takes place between March 8 and 17, with the film section of the festival coming before the music.

The festival is seen as a showcase for the best a brightest new talent in music as well as the established legends.
