London band Bastille are on course to score a No.1 album this week with their debut release Bad Blood, and frontman Dan Smith has revealed he can't quite believe the level of success they are currently experiencing.

Having last week jostled with Justin Timberlake for the No.1 single spot, the new midweeks place Bastille some 6,000 copies ahead of nearest rival Stereophonics, and Smith claims the band are finding the exposure 'surreal'.

"It's completely ridiculous and mental," Smith tells Gigwise. "None of it feels particularly real. It very surreal, like it's happening to someone else."

The band are currently on tour across the UK, and Smith added that he is glad to have the tour to keep his mind off the band's newfound fame.

"I'd rather not think about it," he laughs. "Luckily we are on tour so we are quite busy doing gigs and it feels like all this insane stuff is just sort of happening."

"It's really nice that people are buying the album and seem to like it. That's the most important thing for us."

Bastille are currently 6,000 copies ahead of Stereophonics' new release, Graffiti On A Train and are also outselling the likes of Emeli Sande and Dido in the midweek chart.

We've teamed up with online music store Tunetribe to offer Gigwise readers the chance to download this hugely anticipated release for just £4.99. Click here to download Bad Blood now.
