The list of contributors for Dave Grohl's Sound City soundtrack is, without a doubt, massively impressive, featuring the likes of Stevie Nicks, Brad Wilk and Chris Goss.
The final number on the soundtrack sees the Foo Fighters frontman team up with pals Josh Homme and Trent Reznor for a gently rocking track that's typical of the three men.
'Mantra' is a relatively simple, but effective, effort with a picked guitar melody rising above a haze of faint distortion as the track gradually builds in intensity before an abrupt bassline break which in turn gives way to a classic, rocked-out, conclusion.
Both Grohl and Reznor are expected to appear on the next Queens Of The Stone Age album, with Grohl returning to the drum stool for the record after the departure of Joey Castello and Reznor helping out with song writing.
Grohl premiered his film Sound City at Sundance Film Festival and has since taken it to LA and London, playing extened shows with Sound City Players and taking part in Q&As.
The soundtrack, Sound City: Real to Reel, is released next week (March 12) through Grohl's own label Roswell Record.
