The Darkness have been forced to cancel all dates of their Australian and New Zealand tour due their drummer's hip injury.

Ed Graham's on-going joint problem has failed to heal even after surgery and the drummer will be taking time out when the band's current European tour ends in Antwerp on March 21.

The Darkness were due to play in Adelaide on April 2, but a statement from their managment said: "It is with great regret that we are having to cancel The Darkness' planned April dates in Australia/New Zealand.

"As some of you may be aware, Ed has had some prior history with hip problems, which resulted in extensive surgery a few years ago, and caused him to miss some U.S dates in 2012."

The British rockers were set to tour with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts but Graham has been advised not to continue.

The management added, "Ed has been advised to undergo some rest and tests before potentially taking a backwards step and making matters worse."
