David Bowie is on course to score a No.1 album with The Next Day, having topped the midweek charts with his comeback album.
The record will be his first number one in 20 years and, according to the Official Charts Company, is likely to get the top spot.
The Next Day was released on Monday (11 March), and has already become the album with the biggest selling first day of any this year - 56,000 copies were sold yesterday.
The Official Charts Company's Managing Director, Martin Talbot, said in a statement, "Bowie is officially back! The Next Day is a true gift for all Bowie afficionados. It already sounds like a classic Bowie album – and its popularity this week is already showing that the great British public have taken it to their hearts."
The album would be Bowie's first number one record since 1993's Black Tie White Noise, and is the musical icon's 27th studio album.
On a slightly different end of the musical spectrum, Nicole Scherzinger looks likely to take the No.1 spot on the singles chart - as she is currently number one in the midweek chart update.
Scherzinger tweeted, "HOLY SCHAMAZEBALLS BATMAN! Just woke to #BOOMerang being #1 on the midweek charts! Thank you so much UK."

Speaking about 'Boomerang' to The Sun recently, Scherzinger said, "It’s refreshing, it’s like a nice cold glass of Kool-Aid for all the kids out there. It’s also just a really empowering song, it’s got a great message.
"There are days when I’m not fearless and fierce and I want to throw in the towel and this song picks me up and convinces me to not give up and to keep moving forward no matter what."
