M.I.A. had been banned from leaving America to return home to London by a restraining order issued by ex-boyfriend Benjamin Bronfman, who does not want their four-year-old song Ikhyd taken out of the country.
The couple split last year and have raised their 4-year-old boy together in Brooklyn, but it has been reported that M.I.A. has threatened to move to London with Ikhyd.
To prevent that, music mogul, Bronfman has successfully filed for a restraining order to ensure M.I.A isn't allowed to take their son out of the country.
A source told New York Post: "Ben filed a motion for a temporary restraining order preventing her from taking their son to the U.K. against his wishes."

The rapper has since taken to Twitter to defend herself and has accused Bronfman and his family to trying 'to take my child away.' She has also been re-tweeting words of encouragement from fans.
One of M.I.A's Twitter followers wrote: "NO MOTHER SHOULD HAVE TO FACE THIS. A CHILD MUST NEVER BE SEPARATED FROM THE MOTHER."
M.I.A's fourth studio album, Matangi is due to be released in April after being put back because her record label to make it 'less positive'.
She told Australia's Gold Coast Bulletin recently: "I thought I'd finished it. I finished it and then I handed the record in, like a couple of months ago."
"It's like 'We just built you up as the public enemy No.1 and now you're coming out with all this positive stuff'"
