More about: Pet Shop Boys
Pet Shop Boys have decided to part company with Parlophone, their record label of nearly 30 years, to sign for a brand new company.
Newly-established label Kobalt Music Services have acquired the veteran chart-toppers and the switch will see the duo release their new album with the label in June.
In a joint statement band members Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe said: "We'd like to thank everyone we've worked with at Parlophone over the last 28 years both in the UK and abroad.
"When we signed to the label in 1985 we had no idea how long and successful a relationship we were embarking on.
"However it is also exciting now to commence a new phase working with a new team in a new business structure."
Pet Shop Boys have signed with Kobalt Music Services
Earlier in the year, it was announced that Parlophone was being sold to Warner Music and has seen the departure of several artists over the past few years including Radiohead and Sir Paul McCartney.
Parlophone's Miles Leonard told BBC he was "proud" to work with the Pet Shop Boys. He said: "We have been fortunate enough to have been partners in one of the most successful careers in pop culture.
"We wish them every success in the future and look forward to continuing our relationship with them across their entire and enviable catalogue."
Kobalt Music Services is a new part of the Kobalt Music Group which has become an increasingly important figure in music publishing. The new label released its first international album recently in the form of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Push The Sky Away.
