After a bout of flu and laryngitis forced Rihanna to cancel several tour dates earlier this week, the pop star has now resumed her world tour and is planning to reschedule the missed shows.

Shows in Baltimore and Boston were cancelled because of the singer's illness, but she was back on form to play 'one of her favourite cities' last night, Philadelphia.

"One of my favourite cities in America #PHILLYnation #diamondsworldtour WE BACK!!!!" Rihanna tweeted.

A source revealed to Hollywood Life that the singer feels bad about cancelling two shows, and was eager to make it up to the fans.

"She feels awful she had to cancel two f**king shows but it wasn't nothing she could do about that," the insider said. "She hopes her fans give her another chance and you know she's going to give the crowd in Boston and Baltimore a little extra!"

The Diamonds world tour is in support of the singer's seventh studio album Unapologetic.

But the singer wasn't unapologetic about cancelling her Boston show.

Taking to Twitter she posted, "#BOSTON this is the hardest thing for me to deal with! I feel like we've been waiting on this day forever, and I'm hurt that I let you down.

"I hate disappointing people that have never let me down!! i'm so embarrassed about this! Thank you for your prayers and all wishes!"

Rihanna said she was disappointed to have had to cancel the two shows

The tour will reach the UK on June 10, provided the pop star's health holds up.

The singer recently got into the Comic Relief spirit, donning a Stella McCartney-designed Red Nose day t-shirt, and nothing else.
