A troublesome stomach bug forced Sir Elton John to cancel a Friday night show in the US at the last minute.
Having recently toured South America, the 65-year-old ‘Rocket Man’ singer is due to perform a series of shows in the States, and was set to perform in Birmingham Alabama, but Ticketmaster announced the cancellation just hours before the show.
Officials at the venue say that medical reasons were being given as the reason for the cancellation, but that they had been given no further details.
But The Sun reports that the ‘Candle In The Wind’ star is suffering from a stomach bug which got the better of him at the last minute.
The arena’s Facebook page showed an image of the singer’s piano already installed on the stage ahead of the show.
After his scheduled dates in the US, Sir Elton is due to take his show The Million Dollar Piano back to Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace for 13 shows across April and May.
He and his partner David Furnish recently welcomed a second son to their family.
Elijah, who was born via surrogate, joined their family earlier this year.
Health permitting, Elton wil play Memphis tonight
The couple already have a son, Zachery, who is two.
Elton is scheduled to play again tonight in Memphis, Tennessee, as long as his health permits.
