There’s plenty of people out there who have been the focus of Noel Gallagher’s criticisms about the music industry over the years, but Emeli Sande apparently wasn’t going to take his harsh words about her music lying down.
In an interview with Shortlist, Gallagher picked out the award winning singer, saying he doesn’t get her music and saying it was “for grannies”.
He also had some choice words for Paloma Faith, saying “You look at the ‘best’ now. Paloma Faith? Do me a favour. Who’s f**king decided she’s a star? Emeli Sande? That’s music for grannies. I don’t get it.”
But the ‘Next To Me’ singer has responded to his comments, and made her feelings clear.
Taking to Twitter she wrote “Thanks Noel” above a picture of a granny giving the camera the middle finger.

But Sande can rest assured she’s not the only one Noel’s peeved with at the moment. Next week sees the start of the Teenage Cancer Trust shows curated by Gallagher at the Royal Albert Hall, but he recently spoke of how ‘middle-class’ bands had wriggled out of promises they’d made to appear when he spoke with them in person.
Noel singled out acts like Mumford & Sons and Ed Sheeran as people who’d let him down.
