Morrissey has been forced to cancel the 22 remaining dates of his US tour due to health problems that the singer has been struggling with since the turn of the year.
The singer has struggled with multiple health problems including a bleeding ulcer, double pneumonia and issues with his oesophagus.
He’d cancelled six shows already while receiving hospital treatment, but the 53-year-old had continued to promise to return to the tour as soon as possible.
A statement from his US publicist Lauren Papapietro said: “Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not Mobe able to continue on the rest of the tour.
“Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts.”
Fans with tickets for the cancelled shows can get refunds at the point of purchase.
The tour began earlier this year with a show at the Staples Centre, LA, and Hollywood High School, and during both shows the singer appeared to be in good form and health.
On January 31 Morrissey quipped that ‘reports of his death have been greatly understated’.
“Once admitted to the William Beaumont Hospital at Royal Oak in Michigan, I received treatment for concussion, a bleeding ulcer, and Barrett’s oesophagus,” Morrissey said at the time.

“The positive form all of this is that there are now no known ailments left for me to try.”
The 2012-13 US tour hasn’t run smoothly from the get go. In October last year Morrissey postponed 26 shows to fly home to be with his sick mother, who has now recovered.
The more recently cancelled shows were supposed to make up for the shows postponed from last year.
