Tulisa remains undeterred by the embarassing failure of her debut album, The Female Boss, and has discussed plans for a more 'British' follow up record.

The former N-Dubz singer's debut album only reached No.35 when it was released in 2012, despite having spawned chart topping hit 'Young' earlier that year. Now, the singer is looking back to that early success for inspiration on where to go next.

"I'm going to make a few singles soon, and I want to take my sound back to basics. I want to just make songs that I really love from now on," she says, quotes Contactmusic. "My first single 'Young' got to number one, and that's because it was a very UK-sounding track - and I realise now that's what the fans want."

She also reveals that she has turned down the offer to work with big name producers in America to secure a hit single, adding: "I've been offered the opportunity to go back to the US and work with massive producers, but I said no as I want to be more urban. I've been saying to ground-level UK writers, 'Send me beats.'"

She also refuses to contribute to anyone else's tracks until she has scored a few more hits of her own.

Tulisa has recently completed a UK tour alongside Ne-Yo

Tulisa is less certain about her return to the X Factor however, recently telling a tabloid not decisions had been made about her future. She told a tabloid following a recent show with Ne-Yo at London's O2: "I still don’t know yet, as like every year I don’t find out until the month before. I’ve spoken to Simon via text messages, just general conversation, not about the show.

“I love the show and I’m competitive. I always want to come back and fight. I’m a fighter. I don’t care what people think. Honestly, I hear no evil, see no evil, I’m in my own bubble. I walk outside and I don’t get anything but love, people asking for photographs and autographs."
