Hurts have revealed their shock when they learnt Elton John accepted their invitation to play piano on their second album, Exile.

The 65 year old star joins the duo on album closing track Help and Theo Hutchcraft could not contain his surprise.

According to The Sun, Hutchcraft said, "It was one of the greatest days of my life - for real. Watching Elton John play piano on a song we wrote? I was speechless for weeks afterwards. Speechless."

He added, "To beat that we'll have to get a hologram of Elvis on the next one."

Speaking about the track to Digital Spy previously, Hutchcraft explained, ""There's a track called 'Help' which is a song we're very proud of. It's one we've always dreamt we'd write, but it's also got a choir made up of fans at the end.

"We flew them in from all over Europe and spent an afternoon teaching them the song. It's a great moment for us, that the last voices you hear on the record are the people who've supported us."

The Manchester synth duo recently reached number 6 in the UK album charts with their follow up to 2010's Happiness.

Speaking to Digital Spy about future collaborations, the pair named Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey as potential team-ups.

Theo finished by saying, "I always find it interesting when you take a lot from different things."
