New Adele album? 'No talks whatsoever' claims her songwriter

After an amazing harvest during this year's awards season, all eyes on are Adele for news of a follow up album to the massively critically acclaimed 21 - but it's not happening, at least not yet.

Ryan Tedder, the OneRepublic frontman who penned songs for Adele's last record, says there are no writing sessions arranged for the new record, but that he has ideas ready to go when there are.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Tedder said: "At least as of last week, from the label, I've been told there is no actual talks happening right now - whatsoever."

But he added that he understood why Adele might be taking it easy for a while.

"I would just chill for a minute. She has a kid, she has been chilling and she should.

"At which point she wants to start working again I'm sure she'll kick it off with [producer - Paul] Epworth, I would assume, as I would."

But the songwriter, who had a hand in 'Rumour Has It' and 'Turning Tables', admitted he was eager to work with the singer again on her new album, though he said he'd want to focus more on composition than lyrics.

"I would, of course, go in, in a heartbeat. I already have a couple of ideas.

"To me though it would come down to, 'OK, last album was bitter and heartbroken', that was the narrative. It's hard for me to even come up with ideas without knowing what her narrative would be now.

"Everything she does is so instantaneous, instant, real, authentic. The most I could possibly come up with would just be music. I'm not going to put words in her mouth for anything."

Adele's 'Skyfall' has been called the best Bond theme in years

Adele herself recently said she's ready to work on her next album, but won't do so until she feels she has something to write about. The singer admitted she wasn't very far along at all with the album, and mainly sang nursery rhymes.

After winning an Oscar for her James Bond theme 'Skyfall' she is now reportedly being sought for the next film's theme tune as well.

But as one of the world's most successful vocalists, and with a new born child, she's probably justified in taking a little time off.
