My Chemical Romance frontman, Gerard Way has said his band are 'done' but will 'never die' as part of a huge letter to fans on his Twitter account.
Following the weekend's announcement that the US emo band will split and hopeful speculation amongst fans that it was some sort of publicity stunt, Way has written almost 2,000 words to sum up his feelings.
He wrote: "I woke up this morning still dreaming, or not fully aware of myself just yet. The sun poked through the windows, touching my face, and then a deep sadness overcame me, immediately, bringing me to life and realisation – My Chemical Romance had ended."
The message includes a lond-winded anecdote about freeing a trapped bird from a library and he hints that a New Jersey concert on Saturday, 19 May 2012 was one of moments when he felt it was time the band split.
Way added: "I am normally not nervous before a show but I am certainly filled with angry butterflies most of the time.
"This is different- a strange anxiety jetting through me that I can only imagine is the sixth sense one feels before their last moments alive. My pupils have zeroed-out and I have ceased blinking. My body temperature is icy."
Seemingly putting an end to both the band and all other rumours, Way signs off be saying, "'My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die."
"It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you.
"I always knew that, and I think you did too."
The four-piece revealed the news via a short statement on their official website on Friday (22 March) and have labelled being in the band a 'true blessing', but believed it was 'time for it to end'.
