The latest rumour that music icons Daft Punk could be performing at Coachella has once again been shot down.

The buzz surrounding the electro duo's current comeback means that fans are willing to believe almost anything, and this rumour was more believable than most. Daft Punk were not officially announced for the festival but were speculated to be performing before the line-up was released.

Recently, their Vevo page showed a single concert at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, on 12 April, which increased speculation that the band would be appearing at Coachella - particularly after the announcement of their upcoming album Random Access Memories.

However, a representative for the duo has shot the rumours down, saying, "Daft Punk is not performing at Coachella this year." Definitely no room for interpretation there.

Random Access Memories is set to be released on 21 May. The record has 13 tracks and is expected to include appearances from both Pharrell and Nile Rodgers.

Rodgers recently spoke to Rolling Stone about working with Daft Punk, claiming that it felt 'unbelievably natural'.

Listen to a fifteen second clip of the collaboration below:

Rodgers told the magazine, "About a year ago, I get a knock on the door – first a virtual one and then a real knock – from Guy-Manuel and Thomas. The collaboration felt so unbelievably natural that it made me realise that I need to be in the studio with people.

"I love partnering with people. And then from that moment, a windfall of recording started happening. I just started going in with whomever I could."
