Recently announced Glastonbury headliners The Rolling Stones have said that they 'can't wait' to play the iconic festival.

Just this week they were announced to be playing the Pyramid Stage this year, and it will be the first time in their career that the musical legends have played it - previously citing fears of rain as the reason they've stayed away.

As quoted by Digital Spy, Keith Richards said, "We all had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good. We can't wait to play Glastonbury."

Ronnie Wood continued, "I've been using all my persuasive charm on the boys for a few weeks now. Really pleased to be doing it. Can't wait to be getting out on that stage at Worthy Farm."

And just after the band were announced, Mick Jagger wrote on Twitter, "Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt." It seems the band are all set.

Jagger also said that he's concerned about the rain. In an online interview with the BBC, he said, "I don’t want to play Glastonbury on the Sunday night in the pouring rain, which is what the Who did this year.

"I was watching it on the telly, and my kids were there. I was on the phone saying ‘it’s awful’. They said it’s really fun, but it didn’t look fun to me. You’ve got to pick your slot."

Confirmed for the Pyramid Stage are: Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Dizzee Rascal, Primal Scream. Nick Cave, Vampire Weekend, Elvis Costello, The Vaccines, Kenny Rogers, Ben Howard, Rita Ora, Rufus Wainwright, Jake Bugg, Professor Green, Laura Mvula, Billy Bragg, First Aid Kit and Haim.
