Just when you thought that Justin Bieber stories couldn't get any weirder, here's one to prove you wrong - the pop star's pet monkey was seized when he flew into Munich and tried to smuggle it into Germany.

The monkey - named Mally - is thought to have been a gift for the singer's 19th birthday, and was given to him by his music producer friend Jamal Rashid.

Bieber reportedly picked Mally up when he was in LA on Monday, and took the monkey on his plane. However, when he landed at Franz Josef Strauss airport in Munich, Germany, Mally was discovered by officials and placed in quarantine.

The 'Beauty and a Beat' star was apparently detained 'for some time' and now faces a fine of more than £10,000 while Mally is kept in quarantine at his expense.

A customs spokesperson told The Sun, "The animal required a certificate of health and other authorisations. You cannot just land with a wild animal and bring it into the country if the flight has not originated from another EU country and you don't have the proper paperwork."

According to heatworld, a source added, "Justin has been acting like a right diva. He is out of control and lives in an alternative reality to the rest of us. He didn’t think about the potential risks of flying a monkey from one continent to another.

"He and Mally go everywhere together. He will be heartbroken it has been put in quarantine. He seems as fond of Mally as Michael Jackson was of his chimp Bubbles."

Justin's rep has declined to comment on the situation.
