Nicki Minaj has been invited to return as an American Idol judge on the next series of the show.
Minaj has been divisive among fans while on the show, inspiring a 'love or hate' effect - and it seems that the producers like it, as the controversial judge has been invited back for the next series of the reality singing competition.
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe was on his way to a restaurant in Malibu when a videographer for TMZ asked him if Minaj would be asked back on the show.
Lythgoe responded, "By me, she certainly will be!" He also said that he was considering asking Justin Bieber to cameo on the show, saying, "I'm just trying to figure out what he'd mentor."
Minaj recently came under fire when she asked contestants to leave the stage during a group performance, as they had forgotten the words to Motown classic 'I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)'.
After the performance - which was labelled a 'trainwreck' by show critics - she snapped, "I'm gonna act like I didn't see that or hear it."

One of the contestants, Devin Velez was later voted off the show and hit out at Minaj's comments. "When she went crazy – when she was like ‘get off the stage, blah blah blah’ and it’s just like ‘whoa Miss Minaj, I need you to calm down please," he said.
Velez later added, "She could have been upset because the night before she was wearing the same colored dress as Mariah, or that she was on time. We never know."
Minaj wrote on Twitter in response, "Lol. Be mad @AMERICA when u get sent home. The JUDGES are the ones who FOUGHT for America to get the opp to vote for you #memba?"
