The two men accused of plotting to kidnap and murder Joss Stone have today (3 April) been found guilty.
Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw were arrested in 2011, and accused of driving across the country armed with a samurai sword, in order to kill the singer and rob her Devon home. The pair were planning to behead Stone and dump her body in a river.
Judge Judge Francis Gilbert QC told Liverpool, "It was your scheme. This may have been the crazy scheme of a crazy person... but it was a very real plan."
In a diary found by police, Liverpool had referred to Stone as a 'princess' and a 'she-devil in flesh'. He also wrote about his need to buy a semi-automatic gun, a silencer, infra red sights and a "ninja" sword.
Liverpool has been given a life sentence, with a minimum ten year and eight months term, and the sentencing of Bradshaw is delayed until a later date.
Joss Stone did not know about the murder plot until police officers informed her
The two men were arrested in 2011 on 14 June, after they were found outside her home with the sword, rope and a body bag. Although Stone was at home, their plan was obviously unsuccessful - and Stone did not know anything about the plot until a police officer arrived to inform her.
In a statement at the time, Cornwall Police said, "The two men in custody had in their possession information relating to an individual in the Cullompton area and items that lead us to suspect that they may have intended to commit a criminal offence."
