Richie Sambora has thanked fans for their well wishes after quitting the Bon Jovi tour, after rumours that a feud with the band's frontman led to his departure.
The guitarist, who's been with the band since Bon Jovi since 1983, was missing when the band took the stage in Calgary, Canada, on Tuesday (April 2), and a statement from the band later confirmed that he was pulling out of the North American leg of the Because We Can tour.
The statement, posted to the band's website, read: "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled."
Sambora has now taken to his Twitter account to thank fans directly, revealing that he's staying in LA but stopping short of explaining why.
"Thank you everyone for your concern. I'm well, but had to stay in LA to take care of a personal matter. Love you all and see you very soon," he posts.
The guitarist has had a hard time over the last few years, going through rehab, being convicted of drink-driving and divorcing from actress Heather Locklear.
It's unclear whether Sambora will rejoin the tour before it reaches the UK
The Because We Can tour touches down in the UK on June 8 to play Manchester, followed by a further six UK shows including a headline slot at the Isle Of Wight Festival.
It's unclear if sambora will have rejoined the band by then.
