X Factor auditions in London nearly ended in tragedy when a 'helicam' filming wannabes queuing to audition crashed metres from this year's hopefuls.
A helicam filming scores of would be pop stars went out of control and an operator was forced to crash the heavy piece if machinery in the Thames, yards from auditionees.
A spokesman for The X Factor told the Daily Star: "After the helicam broke, the cameraman steered it over the Thames to avoid it crashing intot he crowds waiting to audition. Thankfully no one was hurt and we managed to get a diver to fish the camera out of the river."
Audtions for The X Factor 2013 opened on Saturday (April 6) at London's ExCel Centre. This year's judging panel has been kept a secret so far with rumours circulating that Tulisa will not return to the show. The singer saw her 2012 marred by controversy as a sex tape was leaked by an ex partner online and her debut album The Female Boss reach just No.35 in the charts.
Gary Barlow is yet to confirm X Factor return
However, it is believed that Gary Barlow will return, as will Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger who mentored both winner and runner up in last year's competition.
