More about: Meat Loaf
'Bat out of Hell' star Meat Loaf has given what he believes to be precious advice to British singer Adele by telling her to 'take it easy' in order to protect her voice.
Meat Loaf is currently on his farewell tour and has battled a series of injuries throughout his singing career including concussions, a cyst on his vocal cords and a knee replacement.
Meat Loaf said: "I don't think an audience ever understands how hard it is for a touring artist. They want us to be perfect every night, and it's really difficult, especially when you get older.
"Not even Adele can do it, because she was 22, and had a vocal cord haemorrhage. My advice to her? Take it easy."
At just 24-years-old, Adele has already had to undergo laser surgery to remove a polyp from her vocal folds in 2011 which meant cancelling a UK tour.
Meat Loaf has advised Adele to 'take it easy'
65-year-old, Meat Loaf believes the pressure on modern artists mixed with a gruelling tour schedule is a recipe for disaster for any singer's health.
He added: "That's the problem with a new artist. They don't sell records like they used to. So they're forced to do a lot more than just tour. TV shows, interviews, all that talking and doing extra stuff between shows, that's when you rupture your vocal cords. Over work, over-tired and then bam!"
The singer has feels that today's biggest selling artists miss out on selling as many records as they could have done in the past as people don't buy records as they did in the seventies or eighties.
He continued: "If she'd been in the late 70s or the 80s, she'd be up into the 40 million records by now. But with the way record sales are, there's no comparison to Pink Floyd, AC/DC, or what we did with 'Bat Out Of Hell'."
