Fall Out Boy have confirmed they will not be playing UK concerts this summer, but have suggested a possible return to our shores for live shows close to Christmas 2013.

The band previously hinted that they would be returning to the UK for concerts ahead of their set at Reading and Leeds festivals, but it seems that won't be the case.

Speaking to Gigwise, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz said, "Yeah, we didn't know at the time, I think that we knew they had just booked a trip for us, but it turns out we're just doing TV [in the UK], so."

However, fans don't have to despair, as he did go on to say that Fall Out Boy could be planning a return to the UK in time for Christmas.

"[Reading and Leeds] is the only one that's on the books right now," he continued. "But I feel like we've gotten more support over here than we expected in any way, it's been such a great reaction on the radio and with kids so we will be [returning].

"I think we've never done, like, the Christmastime shows and that kind of stuff, I'm sure those are on the dockets."

He also spoke about the band's collaboration with Courtney Love, titled 'Rat a Tat', on their new album Save Rock and Roll.

Wentz said, "I think that it was important, in making an album that's got such an ambitious title about rock and roll, that girls know they have a place in rock and roll besides being coathangers for the dudes or groupies, or whatever.

"So we wanted to get someone who had a seminal rock and roll voice and who was female, and Courtney literally has that voice. But also, she wrote those lyrics, she's all there."
