US pop singer Selena Gomez has been compared to Latin superstar Jennifer Lopez when the former flame of Justin Bieber releases her first solo album in the summer of 2013.
Gomez has previously release three albums as part of Selena Gomez and The Scene, but how now ditched the backing band to fly solo on her next release. The as-yet-untitled album is described as sounding 'ethnic' by her producer, who has hopes the former Disney star will rival J.Lo with her new material.
"Her album's really cool. It's a really strong dance record and it's really cool actually. I think it's going to take her to the next level too," says producer Jason Evigan in an interview with MTV. "All the stuff I've heard has been really, really cool. She's got some really cool like ethnic influence, kind of tribally dance drums and stuff like that. I kind of feel she's going to be like a new J.Lo kind of thing."
"She's not a little girl anymore. She wants to be like that and be respected like the great pop artists out there," added Evigan. "And I think she is. I think this album is really gonna blossom her into a new realm of electronic pop dance artist."

Gomez is best known in the UK as Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend, but the couple split at the start of 2013.
Tabloid reports stated that the teen duo were holidaying in Mexico over new year after a brief split in late 2012. The youngsters had reconciled their differences, but later split permanently.
