Jai Paul has promised fans a full statement regarding his debut album, which he claims was stolen before being uploaded to Bandcamp - but nearly 24 hours later, we are still waiting for a full explanation...
Fans were overjoyed on Saturday (13 April) after what appeared to be Jai Paul's debut album was uploaded to a Bandcamp account, despite many speculating that the reveal was odd - especially considering that the tracks had no titles and there wasn't even a press release circulated.
Today, Dazed Digital journalist Owen Meyers tweeted, "Jai Paul just emailed me: 'I will be releasing a statement later today about the illegal leak. I have not released a new record.'"
Paul's label, XL Recordings, had previously said that they did not think his album would drop in April - although they did admit that he had a habit of surprising them. The record is currently being sold on the site for £7, with profits going to someone other than Jai Paul.
It is definitely not Paul himself however, as he posted on his Twitter account for the first time in response to the leak, writing, "To confirm: demos on bandcamp were not uploaded by me, this is not my debut album. Please don't buy. Statement to follow later. Thanks, Jai."

Meyers added that Paul's laptop had been stolen and that the promised statement would be made at 3pm. It is also being suggested that people who bought the album/mixtape leak are being refunded the £7 they spent.
The album has now been removed from the site.
