Daft Punk have been working with Kanye West on his new album, as well as preparing their own 2013 comeback, Random Access Memories.
Kanye West announced in February 2013 that fans could expect to hear new music from him within 'months', with suggestions that he would drop a new single titled 'I Am God' in Spring. Rolling Stone magazine has now revealed that Daft Punk have been working with the rapper on a number of new tracks from the upcoming album.
"It was very raw: he was rapping – kind of screaming primally, actually," says Thomas Bangalter. "Kanye doesn’t give a fuck."
"He’s a good friend," adds Daft Punk bandmate Guy Manuel de Homem Christo.
Longtime collaborator, video director Michel Gondry also confirmed the tracks, saying he had heard two of recordings that had been taken from the sessions.
One of them, I told him it sounded solid and powerful – I envisioned a cube when I heard it," Gondry tells Rolling Stone. "He told me, Chris Cunningham’s already directing the video!"
