Daft Punk collaborator Pharrell Williams speaks about the robots' upcoming album, Random Access Memories, in a new interview - and the part that he played in it.

Williams talks most specifically about one of the tracks that he worked on, 'Get Lucky', which also features Nile Rodgers - and also opened up about how the collaboration with the French duo came about.

Speaking as part of Vice's Creators Project series, Pharrell said, "I saw the robots at a Madonna party and they were just like, 'We're doing something, and we can't take our eyes off of it right now.' I was like, 'Okay, but listen, whatever you're doing, just know that whatever you guys need, I'm always there. You just want me to play a tambourine, I'll do it.'

"So the robots reached out and they kept trying to figure out when we were going to be in Paris and finally I ended up in Paris, they were like, 'Well, what have you been working on?' And I played them some of the stuff that I had been working on and I was like, 'Yeah, I'm kind of in this Nile Rodgers place right now.' And they looked at each other and I was like, 'What? You guys don't like that?'

"And they were like, 'Okay, so this is what we want you to write to.' So they play it. Nile Rodgers is actually playing, in the track. It's crazy because, you know, on two sides of the Atlantic we were both in the same place, like, let's go back to that magical time where music and the liveliness of music is what moved people."

Pharrell went on to speak about 'Get Lucky', saying, "I heard 'Get Lucky', it just reminded me of like, some kind of exotic island - not sure if it was on this planet or not, but it just felt like a place where it was like forever four in the morning. You're on an island, you could always see the sun rising and the sky is like, you know, that peachy colour. The music was as alive as the air was, you know, so the air was something that you were gentle and kind and thankful to.

"It's like being in that world is like... the only thing that really matters is you've met this girl at this party, and getting lucky is not just sleeping with her, but meeting someone for the first time and it just clicking. There's no better fortune in this existence, to me."
