Katy Perry is being sued by haircare GHD, over suggestions that her lack of popularity in Europe led to a flop campaign for their range of hair straighteners.
TMZ have shared details of a lawsuit from GHD, who said that they did not renew their previous two year deal with the singer due to the fact that her popularity in Europe has waned.
Perry originally had a $4.5million contract with GHD for two years, starting in 2011 - but Perry's agent is claiming that there was an oral agreement to extend her contract, and that Perry is owed an additional $2million.
However, GHD are saying that there was no oral agreement and that market research showed that Perry isn't as popular in Europe anymore, so they decided not to renew her contract.
Jemella Group, who are behind GHD, say that Perry's team were threatening to sue them for $2million, so they sued first and have asked the court to block the singer's team from filing a lawsuit against them.

Perry's rep told TMZ, "Jemella's attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful." They also said that if Jemella don't pay the $2million that Perry is owned, they plan to sue.
Perry added, "They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith."
