ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus makes poor taste comment on Boston marathon

ABBA star Bjorn Ulvaeus made an ill-judged comment about the Boston marathon when appearing on BBC Breakfast this morning (16 April).

Bjorn was appearing on the show in order to talk about his career and was asked about his health. The songwriter said that running was a good idea, but seemed not to realise what he was saying when he went on to reference the Boston marathon.

"Well, I don't know, running is good - unless you're in the Boston marathon," he said - but quickly realised his mistake and added, "Which is terrible."

Presenter Charlie Stayt agreed, saying "It is terrible and is so difficult for everyone to deal with." He then moved on to asking Bjorn about writing songs for Eurovision. While Bjorn did not seem to make the comments maliciously, it was still ill-judged timing.

Other music stars took to Twitter in order to share their thoughts on the tragedy, which occurred yesterday (15 April). The annual event was targeted by unknown bombers and claimed the lives of three people, injuring 140 more.

Watch the video of Bjorn's comments below:

One Direction member Harry Styles wrote, "Just heard the news. So terribly sad. thoughts with everyone in Boston .x"

Justin Timberlake tweeted, "My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the city of Boston and all of those affected by this terrible incident," and Nicki Minaj posted, "My heart goes out to everyone who woke up this morning to enjoy a peaceful marathon but were met w/senseless destruction."
